Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Split Speak ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Split Speak is a free iOS application that provides real-time, face-to-face translated conversations using Apple's native frameworks. The app features:

• Split-screen design: Optimized for two people sitting across a table
• Real-time speech recognition: On-device transcription using Apple's Speech framework
• On-device translation: Using Apple's Translation framework and Apple Intelligence
• Text-to-speech playback: Spoken translations via AVFoundation
• Conversation history: Local storage of recent translations

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple devices that you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Use Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Modify or create derivative works based on the App
• Remove any proprietary notices from the App

Translation Accuracy

Translations provided by Split Speak are generated by Apple's on-device models and should not be relied upon for critical communications, including but not limited to medical, legal, or emergency situations. Translation quality may vary depending on language pair, context, and ambient conditions.

Third-Party Services

Split Speak uses Apple's native frameworks (Speech, Translation, AVFoundation, and Foundation Models). Your use of these frameworks is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policies. We do not integrate any other third-party services.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPERS OF SPLIT SPEAK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles.
